GodsGroove 2011-12 Schedule

Grades 4-8

GodsGroove is a seasonal choir for kids who prefer to sing a few times a year with a short-term rehearsal commitment. Greg Murai, director.
All GodsGroove rehearsals are in the Sanctuary on Sundays, 10:15-10:45 a.m.

Rehearse October 23 and 30; sing at 11 a.m. worship, November 6.

Rehearse December 11 and 18; sing at
5 p.m. Christmas Eve service,
December 24.

Sing at 11 a.m. Palm Sunday service, April 1. Rehearsals TBA.

GodsGroove singers are also invited to participate in the LOPC Family Choir, with their parents, grandparents and siblings. This choir rehearses January 8-22 and sings in worship at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on January 29.

Sunbeams 2011-12 Schedule

Ages 3-5 (Preschoolers)

Sunbeams introduces preschool children to the fundamentals of choir. Singers learn to properly use their vocal instruments, experience rhythm and express themselves creatively through song while working as a choir team. Sunbeams singers are invited to sing at seasonal church services including Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday.
Sunbeams is designed for children ready to independently participate in group activities without adult assistance.

Sunday Sunbeams meets 10:10-10:30 a.m., October 16-April 1 in the Christian Life Center, Room 108. Colleen Whitelock, director.
Friday Sunbeams meets 8:50-9:15 a.m., October 7-March 30 in the Christian Life Center, Room 203. (Seedlings students may be dropped off at Sunbeams and will be escorted to their classrooms at 9:15). Christina Engelbrecht, director.

Sunbeams and their families (parents, grandparent and siblings) are also invited to participate in the LOPC Family Choir, which rehearses Sunday mornings, January 8-22, and sings in worship 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on January 29.

Cantemus, Fall 2011 Schedule

Grades 4-8

Cantemus is a choir for children and youth who can sing a melody and are ready to learn harmony and part singing. Cantemus requires a steadfast and reliable commitment to Sunday morning rehearsal as the group prepares to participate in monthly worship services, the LOPC Christmas Concerts, Christmas Eve services, music festivals and other special worship events.

Cantemus meets Sundays, 10:10-10:50 a.m., September 18-April 1, in the Chapel. Julie Ford, director.

Fall schedule:

11 a.m. October 9 – worship

11 a.m. November 6 – worship (as part of GodsGroove)

11 a.m. December 4 – worship

6:30 p.m. December 8 - dress rehearsal for LOPC Christmas Concerts

4 p.m. December 10 and 11 – LOPC Christmas Concerts

5 p.m. December 24 – Christmas Eve Family Service

Psalmsters 2011-12 Schedule

Grades 1-3

Psalmsters is an intermediate choir for children who are interested in preparing more complex music and learning the foundations of part singing. Singers must be able to make a reliable commitment to weekly rehearsals from September-April. Choristers learn to properly use their vocal instrument while preparing anthems for Sunday morning worship. Psalmsters also rehearses weekly with the LightShine choir to participate in Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday services.
Psalmsters meet Sundays,10:10-10:50 a.m., September 18-April 1.
All rehearsals are in the Christian Life Center building, Room 205A. Christina Engelbrecht, director.
